Mirror Mirror On The Wall

I had a family friend post this morning about "life" (in general) and it got me thinking deeper into it.
When I want to write, I have to have a meaning behind it. A meaning that people can relate to. With that, I can't just pick up my laptop and pull words out of my brain. I have to let it sit and I have to make sense of it for myself, before I share it with others.
Going back to the blog post here, I tend to get off tract, I grabbed a mirror and put it outside. I looked in that mirror and I saw myself surrounded by the sky, trees and flowers.
In the moment, I just thought it was aesthetic. It's what the COOL kids do now (thank you TikTok) but it got me wanting to think deeper.
In life, we want the "American Dream"
Nice house
Nice car
A caring husband
Children
We often wish upon it just like a star.
"I wish I had that car" "That couple is so good together, I want that" "He bought her flowers why can't he buy me some?" "Can my body look like that?"
Just like that, we wish we can look into a mirror and see our future.
Instead of a mirror we are doing this to the Lord. We are asking the Lord to fulfill our wishes as if He's a genie. We often do this in our prayers, as if we are asking for a "favor." This is where it gets confusing. In the Bible, it says (several times) that if you ask you shall receive.
Here's some examples:
John 15:7
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
Matthew 7:7
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
(Now, hang in there with me, I'm going to pull two different scenarios and make them make sense.)
So we ask, we want and we are begging for certain things in our life, but let me tell you what He says about patience (I have a bad habit of not having this).
Here's what the Bible says:
Romans 8:25
But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Look back and see the word I underlined and bolded. What is it? Requests. If God sees that you are in need of something, He will take care of you where He sees is right for YOU. No matter what you are asking for, or needing, God will fulfill it. You may have to go through a rough patch before you get something "out" of it, but think of how much stronger you are from the person who had a rough patch somewhere else. God made you unique, and YOU are a unique you. You may think that He is not answering your prayers, but your time will come. Have the patience and put all trust in Him. You are His child and I can promise you, He will take care of you. It may be different from your mother, brother, sister or even friends... but that makes you well, YOU.
