Positive thinking was something I had to learn over time. There were so many events that basically traumatized me to the point where I asked "why me?" That's not positive. That's doubt and basically questioning yourself.

During this time, myself included, we often think the worst of things.

What's going to happen

Is my family going to get sick?

I'm never going to see my friends again!

By thinking positive, no matter the situation, it can do so much good for you and your body.

Here are some benefits of thinking positively:

Increased life span

Lower rates of depression Lower levels of distress Greater resistance to the common cold Better psychological and physical well-being Better cardiovascular health and reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress

Even though there are benefits, there's something that I would like to share. Ever since I started "seeing the best of things" my attitude has completely changed. I feel positive, happy and everything in between. I, for once, feel as if I can conquer anything I put my mind to.

Today, as a quick activity, let's find the positive in a situation that is bringing you down at the moment. List at least 5 positive things about that.

I'll do it with you!

Here is my situation... I am finding it hard NOT to see my friends or be in Charlotte at the moment.

But here's the positive outlook on that:

  1. I'm not risking getting sick or spreading it to the people I care a lot about

  2. When we meet again, it will be stronger than ever

  3. I get to spend quality time with my family, who I have been away from since being away at school

  4. Technology! I've very thankful for the times I get to FaceTime or text my close friends

  5. I'll see them again! Soon!

I could knock out so many more, but all I ask for is 5. Try this!

I can promise you, you'll have a different perspective on those hardships you may encounter.
