During this time, it can be quite overwhelming. It's a time where we don't know much of anything. On top of that, if you're in college or any type of school, you know finals are coming up. This can be a very stressful time. Through only but time, I have learned how to manage this stress.
On a medical standpoint... stress can cause a lot of harm to your body, mind and your overall health. Learning how to cope with stress will ultimately keep you healthy.
Here are some ways that I learned how to manage this, especially during this unpredictable time.
Take a moment for yourself. If you start to feel overwhelmed... STOP. Put down your pencil, put down your phone or anything you may be looking at, leave it there. Take at least 5 minutes to regroup and breathe. This time is very important. Stress comes in all shapes and sizes. Even looking at your phone can cause stress. If you take 5 minutes to breathe and be one with yourself, your whole mood will shift and you'll regenerate.
Right before you go to bed, especially on a stressful day, take a shower or a bath. Not only is your work not following you, but it's a time for you to reflect and be alone. My ultimate favorite time at night, is to be able to grab a candle, set it next to the tub and take a LONG bubble bath. I feel so relaxed by the end of it.
Find something that calms your mind. If you need to take your mind off of a stressful situation... do something to counteract it. Read a book, cook something, or even watch your favorite movie or show. This will allow your brain to think solely on that specific activity rather than running wild and causing stress.
Sometimes when I get overly stressed, I go for a drive. When you go for a drive you are focusing on the road ahead of you (I sure do hope so) and you get your mind off of everything else. Put on your favorite music and just go.
Last but not least, try to get your work done. I know that is easier said than done... but if you have work, don't let it pile up. Piled up work causes so much stress. If you know you have to get something done, do it. I can promise you it would make you feel so much better when you've cleaned the house before noon, or finished that paper that's due on Sunday. You would release so much stress by getting work done and checked off your list... that you can better enjoy the day or day's ahead of you.
